ALT.Net

There appears to be a new movement occuring in the .Net community and it has tweaked my interest massively.

A friend of mine directed me to Jon Galloways article on ALT.Net and from there I have read several other blogs and also started looking at projects such as Castle.

Whilst I think these developments in the .Net community are great, will it make any difference? What I mean is whilst working for a large .Net team what are the chances of convincing all your team members (especially your boss) to start looking at ALT.Net tools? If you can’t change your colleages attitude towards such things then isn’t being ALT.Net pointless, afterall you can’t go it alone in a medium to large team where you need to work seamlessly with others.

I myself am in a fortunate situation as I am the boss, and so if I think something is worthwhile I can have my team switch as necessary. However if I suddenly start using Castle and then move job in a years time would my year of Castle experience be worthless?

Whilst I think ALT.Net has some great potential, I have a problem thinking it will ever be anything other than a small minority that will be ALT.Net and thus for my own personal knowledge I have to question how far I should move into the ALT.Net world.
